In this article, we’ll explain how to edit the content of a page.

IMPORTANT

You should always make changes to the content in the default language of your website. After applying the required changes to the page in the default language, you can update the translations of that page.

1. Selecting the page to Edit

There are 2 ways to select the page to edit.

1.1 Selecting the Page in the CMS

Log in to the CMS and click on “Pages“ in the navigation panel on the left-hand side.

A list of all the website pages will appear. You can search for the desired page. You then have 2 options:

  • Click on "Edit with Elementor" if you wish to make content changes to that page.
  • Click on "Edit Page" if you wish to change the Page Title, Page URL or SEO Settings

1.2 Selecting the Page on the Front-End

Log in to the CMS, and then browse (in the same browser tab) to the page (in the default language!) you would like to edit. In the top menu, you have 2 options:

  • Click on "Edit with Elementor" if you wish to make content changes to that page.
  • Click on "Edit Page" if you wish to change the Page Title, Page URL or SEO Settings

2. Edit the Content of a Page

2.1 Edit Text. Widgets

Click on the specific text you would like to change. A menu will appear on the left side, where you are able to change the text. You can edit the text in the "Visual" or "Text" tab:

  • If you edit the text in the "Visual" tab, and want to paste the text from another source, make sure to paste it without styling
  • Press ‘Update’ on the bottom, to save your changes.
  • You can then update the translated versions.

2.2 Update Images

As a first step, make sure that new images are added to the media library

Images are usually added in one of those two ways to your page:

  • An image element
  • A background image of a section or of a column

2.2.1 Image Element

  • Click on the (blue pencil icon in the right corner of the) image.
  • On the left side, a menu (see right) will appear, where you can edit the image by clicking on Choose image’ when you hover over the image.

2.2.2 Image as a background

In some cases, it could be that the image or video you want to change, is set as a ‘background’ for the specific section or column.

  • Edit the image/video by clicking on either the icon with the six dots (1) or the column-icon on the left-top side (2).

  • A menu with three tabs appears on the left side:
  • Click on ‘Style’ > ‘Background’ (second item on the list). Here you can update the items.
  • Press ‘Update’ on the bottom, to save your changes.

Do you want to set an overlay for your (hero) image? Read more about that here: Add Dark / Coloured Layer to Image

Is your image not exactly outlining the way you wish? You can adjust the position: Adding a Hero / Header Image – Adjust Position

2.2 Edit Buttons

  • Click on the button > A menu will appear on the left side, where you are able to change both the URL behind the button, as well as the text showcased on it.
  • Links can be set up as an internal link or external link. The first one connects your link or button to a specific page; the second one connects your button to a specific URL. We always recommend using an internal URL when linking to a page within your website! In this way, the button will always keep linking to that page. If you link to an URL, and this URL might change in the future, the button will not work anymore. Using internal links is, therefore, less sensitive to errors.

3. Adding New Elements to Pages

When you would like to add a new element or section to your page, you should do so by using existing elements from your website or the specific page. You can do this in two ways:

Duplicating Items within the Page
  • You can duplicate items, by right-clicking the six dots-icon on top of the element > ‘Duplicate’.
  • The duplicated item will appear beneath the copied item. You are then free to make changes to the duplicated element and style it as you like!
Inserting Existing Templates – from the Library

You can insert a new template, from the Template Library in Elementor. Here we have saved all elements/templates developed for your website.

  • If you want the new element to already appear in the spot where you would like to add it: click on the plus-icon on top of an existing element (where you want the new item to appear above). This field will then appear:Click on the folder icon to open the Library > Click on ‘My Templates’.
  • Now choose the template you want to use as the base for your new element. Be aware that you should only use elements that have a hashtag incl. your hotel name. E.g. “#Pillows – ….”

4.Other changes

4.1 Hide Elements on your Page

It is possible to hide certain elements on your pages. Read the following article on how to do this: How to (Temporarily) Hide Elements

4.2 Change Page Url

  • Go to the back-end: Follow step 1.1 of this article.
  • Edit the title: Move to the specific field highlighted below in the picture. In this field you can edit the title.
  • Changing the link/URL: Under the title bar, where you see the “Permalink” click on “Edit” and edit the new URL (if desired).
    Before the changes

Before changing the URL, please consider also its drawbacks: 1) If you inserted this URL in other pages, the old link will not be working/found anymore – visitors that click on that link will be redirected to the homepage. 2) If the page has been linked outside your own website, in other websites or Google Ads, for example, the link will not work anymore as well. Do not forget to update the link in every place you have inserted it!
