In this article we will explain how to add or change a PDF link on the website. If it’s important the PDF url stays the same (e.g. if the exact url / link is mentioned on printed material, third party websites etc), please read the article on How to Replace Media without Changing the Url.
1. Uploading the PDF
When adding a PDF within the content of a page the document needs to be added within the Media Gallery:
- On the left hand side menu click on “Media”.
- Then click on “Add New” to upload the PDF document.
- Within the PDF’s “Attachment Details” copy the URL generated by WordPress.
2. Add the PDF to a Page
Select the page in which you would want to add or change the PDF. On the page, follow these steps:
- Click on the desired text element that needs to be linked to the PDF.
- Select the specific text that needs to be linked to the PDF document
- Then click on the “Insert/edit link” button.
- A new window will appear.
- Click on Edit and Add the previously copied link
- Then click on the wheel icon “Link Options”
- Tick the box “Open link in a new tab”. Then click on “Update”
- The CMS will take you back to the page
- To verify that the new PDF is added, click on “Preview Changes” and check if the link is now directing to the new PDF
- After reviewing that the PDF is properly linked, save the page
