1. New vacancy
1.1 Create new vacancy
- In your WordPress dashboard (in
the primary language of
your website) navigate
to ‘Jobs’ and
then ‘Add new‘
or ‘Duplicate an existing
vacancy‘.
- Note: We
recommend to duplicate an
existing vacancy as then the
standard information of the
hotel is already filled in.
This saves you time &
avoids making mistakes about
the general hotel
information.
- Click on Quick Edit and add the
title of the job and the slug.
- After that, click on update.
- If
you would like to change the
‘date‘ of your vacancy, you
can also update this
here. Note: the date of
the vacancy defines the order
of vacancies on the vacancy
page.
1.2 Edit the job
- Click on Edit
- Now you can fill
in the Google
Jobs
Data fields
in the editor:
- Job Summary: add max 3
lines. This will be visible in the
preview of the job (on the
overview page).
- Featured Image: this
image will be shown in the preview
and in the hero section of the
vacancy.
- Job
Description: describe
what the job is about.
- Job
Responsibilities: what
responsibilities does the job
include.
- Job Requirements: what
requirements should the applicant
meet.
- What do we offer
section: what you as
the hotel offer the
applicant.
- Education
Requirements: no
requirements, high school,
associate degree, bachelor degree,
professional certificate,
postgraduate degree.
- Experience
Requirements: minimal
number of months of
experience.
- Employment
Type: full-time,
part-time, contractor, temporary,
intern, volunteer, per diem,
other.
- Location: where the
hotel is located.
1.2.1 Add a featured
image
The image in the overview page
is set by
the featured
image of
the vacancy, to be found in the
right-hand side menu (see
screenshot
below).
1.3 Tips and tricks
To make sure your vacancy will
be shown for the right keywords,
you have to make sure to be as
specific as
possible.
- Choose a specific job title by adding
words like ‘senior’, ‘part-time’, or
the location of your hotel
- Use this specific job title in the
title, description, and the
metadata
- Make sure the content is convincing
towards the interested user
2. Add Translation
- Translating the vacancy to
other languages should be done
through WPML in the right-hand
side menu, by clicking on the
pencil or arrows:
- Or you can translate through the WPML option in the jobs pages overview in WordPress:
- In the following screen you can
translate each sentence.
- After
that you need to check the box
underneath (Translation is
complete) until you’ve reached
100% in the bottom of your screen.
- Having problems? Read
this article about
WPML or
contact us.
Vacancy in
specific
language
NOTE: If you want a vacancy
for a specific
language only, then
create the
vacancy first
in the native
language of
the website. After
that translate
the
vacancy as
usual and set the languages
which should not be displayed
to draft.
3. Take vacancy
offline
- Once the position is filled or
the response period has ended, you
have to take the vacancy offline
to avoid confusion.
- You can do
this by changing the status of the
page to draft:
- After that, the page will
disappear from the jobs overview
page on your website. However,
this will not take your vacancy
from the Google Jobs search
result, because Google needs some
time to check if the vacancy is
still there.
- Ask us to set up a redirect so all traffic coming from Google
will not be shown an error page.
Instead, this traffic will be
redirected to, for example, the
job overview page.
- Another
temporary solution could be to add
‘position filled’ to the vacancy
page so that users know they won’t
be able to react
anymore.
