In this article, we explain how to use the Replace Media plugin to replace older versions of files, with a new / updated version. By using this tool, you make 100% sure the outdated file will not be available online anymore.
- Navigate
to the
Media
Library in
the
backend of
your
website
and to the
specific
file you
wish to
replace.
- Press Replace
Media below
the
title.
- Upload the
new file
in the
screen by
dropping
it in the
field or
pressing Choose
file,
to find it
on your
computer.
- In the box
below,
that
says Replacement
Options,
make sure
to select
‘Replace
the
file,
use
new
file
name
and
update
all
links’:
- Then press
Update in
the left
bottom
corner to
save your
changes.
Tip!
Whenever
you
need
to
link
to a
media
file
within
your
website,
you
will
need
to add
the
URL of
this
specific
file.
You
can
always
find
this
link
after
opening
the
file
in the
backend,
in the
right
side
menu.
You
can
copy
this
URL to
your
clipboard
and
then
paste
the
link
in the
button
you
need
to
link
from.
